Meet Sara

Hello from Sydney’s Inner West, but don’t let that put you off. Since 2010 I’ve married couples near and far, from Queensland to the south coast of NSW.

I offer a try-before-you-buy approach with an obligation free meet up. I feel it’s important that your choice of Celebrant is right for you and there’s so many to choose from, so why wouldn’t you shortlist a few? Getting married is a big deal and you should feel comfortable in my company and safe in the knowledge that I know what I’m doing.

My style is relaxed, without losing sight that you’re making important lifelong promises to each other. Each ceremony is written with your collaboration and input, be assured you have complete control (apart from the legally binding bits).

If you have any questions, or would like to arrange a chat, please drop me an email. You may also like to take a look at my Terms & Conditions.

The Legal Process

The primary piece of paperwork to get the ball rolling is the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and is to be filled out one month, or a maximum of 18 months prior to your marriage. I have hard copies or you can download it from the Attorney General’s website here.

You are both required to provide evidence of your name, date of birth and place of birth. Your passport is ideal for this. If using your birth certificate, it needs to be the original and please provide a current form of photo ID such as Drivers Licence or Proof of Age card.

If you have been married before you will need to supply evidence that your previous marriage has been terminated.

Documents you provide must be in English or accompanied with an approved NAATI translation.

I will give you some reading material. Part of my legal obligation is to hand you Happily Ever... Before and After, an information leaflet for couples who intend to marry. I will also give you information on the Code of Practice for Marriage Celebrants, which states I must tell you How to Make a Complaint.

The Declaration of No Impediment to Marriage needs to be signed before your ceremony, this can be at a rehearsal or even on the day.

On the day you will require two witnesses, both over 18 to sign 3 marriage certificates. Usually the couple chooses one witness each. You get to keep the posh Certificate of Marriage. It is a legal document and absolute proof of marriage so put it somewhere safe.

Following the ceremony I submit your completed paperwork to the relevant state Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. In NSW using the online portal I can apply for a standard Certificate of Marriage on your behalf and I can advise you of this cost.
